Voice of Cards, between RPG and role-playing game.
What role-playing games would be like, if they were videogames.
NintendObs Daily. Monday, October 11.
Before RPGs were even a thing in videogames, there were such things as role-playing games. Closer to the definition of today, an original role-playing game was exactly that, a tabletop experience where gamers would play a role. We would set ourselves into the characters of the adventure, with one of us playing the role of the narrator, the game master, dealing the cards, the story and the instructions. With nothing but pen and paper, dices and a little bit of graphics, we would make an epic of our own without any computer involved. (I used to do that with a friend of mine something like twenty years ago.)
