It's official, there will be neither a physical nor a digital E3 show this year. The Entertainment Software Assocation curating the big event just announced it today in a statement prompt to pledge that E3 will be returning in full force in 2023, physically and digitally "in an all-new format and interactive experience." Meanwhile, The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley and his Summer Game Fest were quick to reiterate their presence this June 2022. As a reminder, E3 got canceled in 2020 before reappearing via digital only in 2021. The cancellation in 2020 was coincidentally when Summer Game Fest saw its first event which entirely embraced the remote format, and now positions itself more and more as the E3 replacement, if only they could bag Nintendo among their partners.
