Super Mario Party now with (more) online multiplayer.
This is a clear example of how the lockdowns are driving videogame companies to new decisions.
NintendObs Daily. Monday, May 3.
Something I didn't get to talk about last week, on Tuesday Nintendo added new online features to Super Mario Party via free update, more than two and a half years after the game launched on October 5, 2018. This delivers online multiplayer to the Mario Party, Partner Party and Minigames modes. Though other game modes, such as Toad's Rec Room obviously, were excluded along with ten minigames, I'm pretty sure this brings the core Mario Party experience online in full for the first time. Explaining the reason behind this move, in Japan the surprise drop was announced via a commercial that illustrates how families can now play those long Mario Party sessions remotely while bonding over video chat and keeping the smiles going.
