No Man's Sky drops October 7 on Nintendo Switch and the port is promising.
One that includes the six years of updates the game has received so far and that is slated to be continuously supported in the future.
NintendObs Daily. Thursday, June 23.
Announced for Nintendo Switch in this February 2022 Nintendo Direct, No Man's Sky is landing later than its original Summer 2022 release window comes October 7 but for a good reason. Despite the presented scope of the title, going from planet to planet seamlessly in a procedurally generated environment, Sean Murray and team appear to have made a solid version on Nintendo hardware, one that includes the six years of updates the game has received so far and that is slated to be continuously supported in the future. As always (especially given the launch of Fall Guys this Tuesday) there's room for doubt about the actual performance provided by the finished product, but with the developer playing the game on a Nintendo Switch in his own hands, it's OK to be confident.
I've been really interested in Starfield since its gameplay reveal, and No Man's Sky seems to be the very inspiration to Bethesda's upcoming epic, so combined with the work that is being put on this release I'm suprisingly excited to give No Man's Sky a try. This unfortunately won't change anything about the quality of third-party titles on Nintendo hardware but, any developer who pushes their limits on Nintendo Switch deserves support in my book, from the indie developer outputting No Man's Sky to the major publisher concocting Monster Hunter Rise. It's always a joy to see what can be done with this tiny console after all, even more so when such performance feats aren't designed by the console's own manufacturer. At the same time however, more than a mere donation to a good cause, buying a game that is meticulously brought to Nintendo Switch is often an opportunity as a player to discover a different genre, a different experience that Nintendo seldom or doesn't provide at all, for a chance to fall in love with a completely new perspective.
