The galactic bounty hunter Samus Aran now finds herself hunted by the E.M.M.I. (Extraplanetary Multiform Mobile Identifiers).

Metroid (NES, 1986). Metroid II: Return of Samus (GB, 1991). Super Metroid (SNES, 1994). Metroid Fusion (GBA, 2002). And now, Metroid Dread (Nintendo Switch, 2021). While we continue to wait for Metroid Prime 4, for which Nintendo reconfirmed its ongoing development in this Nintendo Direct E3 2021, the first brand-new 2D Metroid game in 19 years is coming to Nintendo Switch this year on October 8, 2021. Metroid Dread takes its name on the feel of a new twist where the galactic bounty hunter Samus Aran now finds herself hunted by the E.M.M.I. (Extraplanetary Multiform Mobile Identifiers), quasi-invincible robotic entities gone astray that bear no room for hesitation when it comes to OHKO'ing the protagonist. Samus is still that badass space warrior though, 1v1'ing everything and everyone on sight: just not with the E.M.M.I. So when you hear that cute little beeping sound and when you see those agile movements creeping, it's time to run away.
