It's time for kickoff. Right during the week of the UEFA Champions League Final, Nintendo of America launched its three commercials for Mario Strikers Battle League under the well-thought-out taglines "So much fun it hurts" and "Getting hit with the unexpected." Actually, since I'm writing this in retrospect after a forced week of absence, in France I noticed Nintendo had commercials for Mario Strikers Battle League (and Nintendo Switch Sports) during the halftime of the clash between Liverpool and Real Madrid… even though the competition was in part being sponsored by PlayStation 5. You know what? Here's hoping this new Mario Strikers title can induce North America to finally join the rest of the world in appreciating the beautiful game when FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 debuts this end of the year.
