LEGO Super Mario and LEGO Luigi to be playable in multiplayer.
Briefly shown at the end of the advertisement, the Bowser's Airship Expansion Set will also be releasing on August 1.

It all makes sense now. Earlier this year in April, LEGO Luigi was announced to release as part of the Adventures with Luigi Starter Course, a Luigi take on the LEGO Super Mario initiative launching this August 1. Today, the LEGO Group and Nintendo revealed that LEGO Super Mario and LEGO Luigi will be able to interact with one another for the experience to be enjoyed by two players. The way it works is both figurines can be wirelessly connected to collect extra coins by doing in-sync actions like walking, flipping and jumping, or to compete against each other to see who gets the highest score on the same course when playing simultaneously. Briefly shown at the end of the advertisement, the Bowser's Airship Expansion Set will also be releasing on August 1.
