Japan's best-selling game of 2021 is a third-party title on Nintendo Switch.
In Japan, Nintendo is literally competing with third-parties to find out which between them will sell the most on Nintendo Switch.
NintendObs Daily. Monday, February 7.
Just over the weekend, the Japanese videogame website Famitsu compiled its weekly sales data in the Land of the Rising Sun to reveal the country's top 100 best-selling videogames of last year and surprise surprise, it is Capcom which holds number one with Monster Hunter Rise. Monster Hunter's current project was closely followed by Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Pokémon Shining Pearl, also selling over two million units in Japan, which simply couldn't catch up in time for releasing roughly eight months later. Number three was held by another game not only not published by Nintendo but even not released in 2021, Konami's latest Momotaro Densetsu, which managed to outsell Nintendo's own highest ranking title of the year at number four, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, even though it launched early on in February.
