Catching up with Hi-Rez Presents 2022.
One could even argue they're trying to pick up the torch where the giants have lost their luster.
NintendObs Daily. Thursday, January 6.
Just yesterday aired Hi-Rez Studios' annual roadmap presentation for their three main titles, Rogue Company, Paladins and SMITE, which are all playable on Nintendo Switch. Ever the funny keynotes, these events highlight what to expect for the year ahead right as it begins, followed by deep dive livestreams, tournaments and celebrations of different kinds. For Rogue Company, since the game is entering its second year, the plan is to focus more on making it better than on adding new characters, which didn't prevent genetically engineered Glimpse from being revealed. Paladins on the other hand, presented the new character VII — let's be honest, it's Reaper from Overwatch — reworks, passes, rewards and more plus especially a collaboration with Rambo coming soon this February. Finally, SMITE introduced its first Hindu god since Ganesha in April 2017, Shiva the Destroyer, also coming in February, along with among a plethora of contents the new main game mode Slash which combines the best from the two modes Siege and Clash. In closing, Hi-Rez Studios also announced that their first UK-based studio Red Beard Games is working on the next title from Hi-Rez, aiming to join the aforementioned three.
