NintendObs Thinks: Breath of the Wild 2 is not launching in 2021.
And it's not coming to some "Nintendo Switch Pro" either.
Just a few Sundays ago was the 35th anniversary of the original The Legend of Zelda game. And just this Wednesday was the fourth anniversary of the Nintendo Switch, as well as that of The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. Even though both #Zelda35th and #NintendoSwitch were trending respectively on these two days, you’ll notice that Nintendo of America’s Twitter, and Nintendo of Europe’s, did not mention any of these milestones.
It’s especially surprising because we’re still celebrating the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary campaign this month and you would think, or at least I did, that Nintendo would run a similar operation for The Legend of Zelda’s 35th anniversary, even more so with the sequel to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild announced since E3 2019 and mentioned in this February 2021 Nintendo Direct. You would also think they would celebrate Breath of the Wild’s anniversary as an opportunity to bring a little more hype for this next Zelda game. Well, they didn’t.
In my opinion, the reason why Nintendo is remaining this silent at the moment is simply because the sequel to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is not launching in 2021. At this point in time, even though I would surmise that the game is nearing completion since Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma announced that more about it will be revealed this year, a release is still too far on the horizon to kickstart the roadmap of its promotional campaign.
