Turns out, this was actually a pretty packed week. (Still no signs of Nintendo's E3 plans, though.) After Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest, then came time for the Sonic franchise to reveal its upcoming projects. And well... That was just a little underwhelming. All in all, the news were great, especially Sonic Generations Ultimate landing on Nintendo Switch this September 7, 2021. But with the way Ivo Gerscovich and Takashi Iizuka, Global Chief Brand Officer and Creative Officer for Sonic respectively, were confident in their show, you'd think they were going to unveil Sonic Adventure 3 or something. Instead, the closer was simply a CGI trailer announcing a new Sonic game from the Sonic Team with a cryptic logo at the end, before a release window of 2022 on Nintendo Switch and other platforms. No gameplay whatsoever, merely a promise.
